Cycad Moth / Leopard Moth

 If you have Cycads / Cycas in your garden, please be on the lookout for this moth!

She is about 2 cm long when mature, orange with black spots and lays eggs on plants that are pushing new growth, and the newly hatched caterpillars can destroy this new growth in one day.

Cycad loopers/Leopard moths can strip an entire cycad within days So far, the following poisons have been tried on these caterpillars with success: Cypermethrin as a contact poison and Plant Care (Ingredient: Bifenthrin & Acetamiprid) as a contact and stomach poison.
